Traditional Scottish music plays a big part in the culture of Skye.

Internationally regarded composer and fiddle player Duncan Chisolm and his friends played at a sold-out Elgol Village Hall in June 2023.

Elgol is a small hamlet in the south of Skye, with a remarkable outlook across to the Black Cullin range. It’s a popular spot for photographers as it faces the sun as it sets behind the mountains.

On this night the music was the star, with the packed hall enjoying an emotional, vibrant and melodic gig of the highest quality.

Afterwards, the single track road back to Broadford was a seemingly endless trail of red tail lights.
