Isleornsay, and the adjacent village of Camuscross, is situated on the Sleat Peninsula on the south of the Isle of Skye. Here we are looking westwards to the Isleornsay lighthouse, and the mainland beyond across the Sound of Sleat.

The clouds are backlit by a rising full moon. It isn’t sunrise or sunset, it’s moonrise. The mountains are dusted with a new fall of snow which has just passed through, bringing some lightness and contrast to the scene. It took three years to get the right conditions for this image, and many visits to Camuscross. Disappointment in the conditions was nicely dampened by the excellent Eilean Iarmann pub and hotel, surely one of the most picturesque watering holes on the island.
