Neist Point is the most westerly part of Skye, a rocky peninsula jutting out into the Minch - the channel between Skye and the Outer Hebrides.
It’s main feature is the famous lighthouse which occupies a commanding position at the end of the peninsula, perched atop cathedral-like rocky cliffs.
The “trophy” shot is looking westwards towards the lighthouse from near the car park. For this image I wanted something very different, and hiked down the precarious cliff path, out past the lighthouse, to shoot back towards it in the opposite direction.

On the way back from taking the lighthouse photograph, I noticed the lighthouse beam was casting a strange glowing stripe across the rocky cliffs of the peninsula.
I had to stop and capture this, as it just looks very peculiar. It’s almost as though a stripe of sunshine has emerged from the dark night to illuminate this thin strip of land in the middle of nowhere.
