Radio Skye Interview

Your’s truly interviewed in Radio Skye’s studio in Portree

I had the pleasure of being gently quizzed about my Skye At Night book by Suzy Lee of Radio Skye. I first met Suzy at Ros T’s album launch in Portree and it was excellent to get reacquainted. Radio Skye have a very cool studio in Portree which broadcasts across the Skye and Lochalsh.

I haven’t been in a radio studio before, so it was all really interesting and a completely new experience for me. I had copy #1 of the book with me, and before the interview Suzy went through it carefully, spotting quite a few people she knew as she did so.

I was really pleased that she picked up on the community aspect of the book, which highlights many of the people that work in the background to keep the island ticking especially overnight. She also asked about the donation of the profits to the Skye Mountain Rescue team, which is such a good cause and one I know I’ll be able to rely upon when I’m up a mountain or down a cliff somewhere on the island.

And the big news I was able to announce is the book launch, which is on the 2nd of August at 7pm at the Stables at Armadale Castle. Please come along - no tickets required. Helen and Neil Urquhart will speak about the Skye Mountain Rescue Team, and I’ll give an illustrated talk about the making of the book. I’ll have 150 books with me which need to get sold (and signed if you like) to get a the first big donation to the SMRT.

Suzy’s interview will air on Wednesday 31st July in her breakfast show.
