Weaving Magic
How to photograph some artisan weavers in a shed at night? I found out when I visited Andrea and Roger who founded Skye Weavers up in Glendale.
As ever with this sort of thing, I went with an idea of the key shot I wanted, and ended up with a much bigger variety of compositions that I expected. Always keep an open mind!

Tokavaig Trip
A beautiful, still, cold, clear night in a little-known corner of Skye yielded 3 lovely photographs for the book. What a place this island is!

8 Seconds Over Loch Airigh na Saorach
Photographing with a drone at night is very tricky, requiring long exposures and high ISO. This is a combination that is highly sub-optimal for a small battery powered aircraft with a small sensor in a rather windy part of the world. This shot needed an 8 second exposure to get the look I wanted.

Inside the Pink Cave
Why not spend the night in your car, then scale some precipitous cliffs in the dark in order to enter a sea cave to take a photograph before dawn? Seems like a great idea. So that’s exactly what I did one night in early September.
